Time Blocking Beats Pomodoro: The Real Reason You Can't Focus

You think the Pomodoro Technique is a productivity hack. It's not. It's a crutch for people who've never learned to focus for more than 25 minutes. The tomato timer isn't helping you; it's training you to be distracted.

  • Use time blocking as your default planning method. Schedule 90-minute blocks for deep work, 30-minute blocks for shallow tasks.
  • If you must use Pomodoro, use it only as a last resort for tasks you're dreading, and pair it with a longer deep work block afterward.
